The Chakras are about physiology and psychic centers, and are based on the belief held that human life simultaneously exists in two parallel dimensions; one "physical body" and the other "psychological, emotional, mind, and non-physical" (called the "subtle body").
This subtle body is energy, while the physical body is mass. The psyche, or mind plane, corresponds to and interacts with the body plane, and the belief holds that the body and the mind mutually affect each other. The subtle body consists of energy channels connected by nodes of psychic energy called chakra. There are seven major chakras:
The Chakras have the following characteristics:
When the root chakra opens and energy is flowing freely, you will feel safe, comfortable and confident. Symptoms of the Chakra opening include feeling grounded, connected and secure. You may notice tingling, heating, or healthy changes such as in your eating habits, sleep patterns and overall physical activity.
The human body has more than 88,000 points of physical and spiritual energy according to yoga philosophy, each known as a Chakra. Each of the seven major chakras are associated with a color, shape, sense organ, natural element, deity, and mantra. The most important are the heart Chakra, the Chakra at the base of the spine, and the Chakra at the top of the head.
